Controversial TSA video featuring Kristi Noem sparks outrage at Detroit Metro Airport

Local 4 can confirm the message is playing at Detroit Metro

Air travelers passing through checkpoints have been raising the alarm about a controversial video.

It shows Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem addressing the ongoing government shutdown.

Local 4 can confirm the message is playing at Detroit Metro.

“Democrats in Congress refuse to fund the federal government, and because of this, many of our operations are impacted and many of our TSA employees are working without pay.”

Many argue that TSA lines are not the place to spread a political message and are calling on airports to take action.

We first reached out on Tuesday (Oct. 14) to the Wayne County Airport Authority.

They responded with this statement, saying, “Yes, the video is playing on monitors located in TSA-leased space at DTW. For additional information, please contact Homeland Security Public Affairs.”

After the video and its fallout began making more headlines, we reached out again.

We were then sent the following photo of a sign outside of security that said “The views expressed in this TSA-controlled video do not represent the views of Wayne County Airport Authority. The Wayne County Airport Authority does not engage in partisan politics.”

The airport informed us that they have requested that TSA stop playing the message.
