Police recover kidnapped victim after Belle Isle tip leads to traffic stop

Police said the victim was later found near the initial incident location, and all victims were recovered safely

DETROIT – Detroit police recovered a kidnapped victim after a Belle Isle tip led to a traffic stop.

The incident occurred on Friday (Oct. 17) when police said they were alerted by the Detroit Regional Communication Center about a possible body being dumped on Belle Isle near Lakeside Street and Lucerne Drive.

Police said a suspect vehicle, described as a silver Ford Focus, was seen by a Metro South sergeant leaving the island.

Officials said a traffic stop was conducted on Jefferson Avenue, confirming the license plate matched the suspect vehicle.

Detroit police said they arrived on the scene, and the vehicle and suspects were taken into custody.

Police said the kidnapped victim was later found near the initial incident location, and all victims were recovered safely.

Detroit police continue to investigate the case.
