Suspect arrested in attempted murder of Macomb Township businessman

32-year-old suspect arrested in shooting of Eddie Jawad

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office has announced an arrest in the attempted murder of a Macomb Township businessman.

In a joint effort between the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Warren Police, and the FBI, investigators arrested a 32-year-old man allegedly involved in the attempted murder of gas station owner Eddie Jawad.

Security camera video from a neighbor shows the moments officers carried out the raid at a home on Rivard Avenue in Warren at around 5 p.m Sunday. The video shows a SWAT team breaching the front door of the home.

Security video released this week by the sheriff’s office shows a gunman appearing from between two vehicles parked in the driveway of Jawad’s home on 24 Mile Road Tuesday morning.

The suspect fires shots into the passenger’s side of Jawad’s SUV, and follows the SUV as Jawad drives toward the road and then across his own front lawn.

The suspect then fled the scene in a 2020-2022 black Ford Escape with a stolen license plate that had been parked nearby.

The sheriff’s office didn’t identify the person arrested in Sunday’s raid or specify how they’re believed to be involved in the shooting.

In a press release, deputies said this is still an active investigation and more details will be released as they become available.
