DETROIT – Sister Pie, the beloved bakery in Detroit’s West Village, has launched special packages for Thanksgiving this year.
The packages, which launched at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, are offered in small and large sizes and each includes pie, cookies and exclusive Sister Pie merch.

The bakery said a contribution to the business is factored into the cost of the packages to help support the business as it continues to plan for the future.
“Baked into the price of the packages is a contribution to the business (roughly 25% of the retail price) that will bolster us financially while we continue planning and preparing for a bright, lasting future,” according to Sister Pie’s website. “We’re endlessly grateful for your support and love!”
Sister Pie typically bakes around 1,000 pies for Thanksgiving, but the team plans to bake 300 pies and dozens of cookies this year.
“As we’re plugging away at our strategic plan and catering beta phase, we continue to feel grateful for the support and love you’ve given during this time of experimentation and change,” according to the Sister Pie website. “In the spirit of that, we are taking a different approach to the holiday season this year. Instead of our typical 1,000-pie bake, we are working as a small and mighty team to produce 300 pies (and dozens upon dozens of cookies) with quality and care.”
They also won’t have first-come, first-served pies this year.

In May, Sister Pie’s owner, Lisa Ludwinski, announced that the bakery was entering a “period of rest” and “reconfiguration” due to financial challenges.
During this interlude phase, Sister Pie hosted pop-ups, experimented with new menu items as they continued to evaluate what’s best for the business moving forward.
Then, earlier this month, Ludwinski announced the bakery was entering a “beta phase,” and would focus on catering for special events as they work to build the business back up.
