Detroit police Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchette said officers arrived to find the front window of the shop was shot out.
Upon entering, police said they discovered one man dead just east of the door. Further inside, they said they found a second man also dead.
“There were no signs of forced entry or struggle prior to the shooting,” said Pritchette. “The workstations inside appeared intact.”
Police are asking anyone who was inside the barbershop before or during the shooting, or who may have left before officers arrived, to contact homicide detectives or Crimestoppers at 1-800-Speak-Up.
“We are depending on the citizens of this city to bring closure for the families of the victims,” Pritchette said.
As of midnight, police said there was no suspect information, no vehicle description, and no known motive.
Police believe the incident was likely targeted.
Officials said the relationship between the two victims was unknown, and police are working to identify them.
Pritchette said the scene remains fluid, with evidence markers both inside and outside the barbershop.
Investigators said they are trying to determine if shots were fired outside before the men were shot inside, or if there was any return fire.
Pritchette urged the public to come forward with any information.
“The families of these two victims need closure,” Pritchette said. “If you saw something, say something.”
