3 hospitalized after wrong-way crash on I-75 near Holbrook in Detroit

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash

DETROIT – Three people have been hospitalized after a wrong-way driver caused a serious crash early Saturday, Nov. 8, on northbound I-75 near Holbrook Avenue

Around 5 a.m., police began receiving calls about a Dodge Durango driving the wrong way -- heading south in the northbound lanes of I-75.

Shortly after, a crash was reported.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a Subaru with two passengers stuck inside.

The 26-year-old driver from Detroit was taken to the hospital with broken bones and possible internal injuries, and the 65-year-old passenger was also hospitalized for internal injuries.

The 38-year-old man driving the Durango was taken to the hospital with head injuries.

Police say alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash.

The freeway was shut down for about four hours while crews cleaned up.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
