Dispute over purchase sparks double homicide at Macomb County car dealership

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man from Houston, Texas, has been charged with more than a dozen felonies after two men were found dead inside a Shelby Township car dealership.

The bodies were found just after noon, Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, at Star Auto Sales near Auburn and Ryan roads. An employee reportedly entered the office and discovered two men who had been shot to death.

Police identified the victims as 40-year-old Marvan Batoo from Shelby Township and 48-year-old Ghaith Baban from Clinton Township.

The next day, multiple law enforcement agencies executed a search warrant at a hotel in Romulus, near Detroit Metro Airport, where Terrance Jermaine Sandles was taken into custody.

The employee who found the bodies told police that Sandles had a dispute regarding a vehicle purchase before the murders. Police were able to track the vehicle to the hotel where he was arrested.

A large amount of cocaine was reportedly found at the hotel.

Sandles was arraigned Monday, Nov. 10, with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of armed robbery, one count of delivery/manufacture of a controlled substance, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon and seven counts of felony firearm.

He was charged as a habitual offender, fourth offense.

Sandles was denied bail and remanded to jail. He is scheduled to return to court Nov. 24.
