DETROIT – A police chase through Downtown Detroit ended in a rollover crash, and a shooting, and it was all caught on Local 4 cameras.
Investigators said a joint task force was conducting surveillance in Detroit’s 10th Precinct area when they spotted a suspect they had been seeking.
The man then allegedly carjacked a dark blue Chevrolet Tahoe at Livernois and Fullerton. ATF agents fired shots at that location, though it was not immediately clear whether the suspect was hit.
Michigan State Police joined the pursuit, which continued until troopers performed a PIT maneuver at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Cass Avenue, disabling the stolen vehicle. Police said the suspect got out of the SUV armed with a gun. Detroit police officers then shot him.
The suspect was taken to a hospital and is listed in critical condition. No officers were injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
