Car crashes into Highland Park elementary school bus; students are being evaluated for injuries

Officials are looking for the driver who fled after the school bus crash

HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. – A car crashed into a school bus that was transporting students from an elementary school in Highland Park.

The crash involving students from Barber Preparatory Academy Charter School occurred on Monday (Nov. 17) at 3:40 p.m. on Woodward Avenue and Buena Vista Street.

Police said the children on board were getting evaluated by medical personnel for injuries after being taken back to school.

After being evaluated, officials said the students were placed on another bus to get home.

Police said the driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Officials said the driver became confused while driving through a construction zone and hit the bus.
