MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Macomb County’s most dangerous intersections have been identified in Michigan Auto Law’s annual report, which uses state police crash reports to rank the areas with the highest number of collisions and injuries.
Any road with a traffic signal, a four-way stop, or a roundabout is considered an intersection, and crashes within 200 feet count toward an intersection’s total.

The 11 Mile Road/I-696 and Van Dyke Avenue intersection in Warren ranks as No. 1 on Macomb County’s dangerous intersections list for the fourth year in a row.
In 2024, there were 185 crashes at this intersection, which was a 16% decrease from 218 in 2023. There were 26 injuries in 2024, which was down 50% from 52 in 2023.
The second most dangerous intersection on the list is the 18 1/2 Mile Road and Van Dyke Avenue interchange in Sterling Heights, which is also a roundabout.
There were 162 crashes at this busy intersection in 2024, which is up from 135 in 2023. Injuries were also up from 9 in 2023 to 12 in 2025
