FERNDALE, Mich. – A 33-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a commuter train in Ferndale.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (March 18) at 1:40 p.m. when Ferndale police officers responded to East 9 Mile Road near Hilton Road.
Officers and paramedics located the woman unresponsive and immediately rendered emergency aid.
Ferndale paramedics transported the victim to a Metro Detroit hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Initial indications from police revealed that the railroad crossing warning system and gates were operating properly.
The incident remains under investigation.
