Big Sean gives back to Detroit with $25K gas giveaway, community love

Homegrown rapper Big Sean turned a BP gas station on Detroit’s east side into a full-blown giveaway and block party Friday. And he brought some backup.

“We’re giving away a lot of gas, making some impact down here,” said Big Sean. “This is my roots right here. I used to come here every Friday and rap at the radio station! If you know, you know,” he said, grinning, as he playfully grabbed the Local 4 mic, going into reporter mode.

And honestly? If you know, you know. It’s been quite a journey for Big Sean. He always seems to make time to come home, and when he does, he shows a lot of love to the city that helped make him.

Bomb threat prompts police search at Sen. Slotkin’s home

Michigan State Police responded to a bomb threat at U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin’s home in Oakland County on Friday, Nov. 21.

She was not at home at the time.

Police searched the property thoroughly and confirmed that no one was in danger.

A representative for Slotkin said she was grateful for Oakland County and Michigan State Police’s swift response to the threat.

The investigation is ongoing.

Sterling Heights officer describes moment he rushed through Walmart to save choking baby

On Nov. 1, Sterling Heights police officer Edwar Talia rushed to save a choking baby at a Walmart, dramatic bodycam footage shows.

The officer’s calm under pressure made all the difference in the life-threatening situation. Many are calling him a hero, but Talia says he was just doing his job.

The incident happened when a mother’s 5-month-old baby, Jameson, stopped breathing inside the store. Officer Talia was already on scene working a special detail when the emergency unfolded.

With offense rolling, defense steady, Michigan football eyes clean execution vs. Terrapins

The No. 18-ranked Michigan Wolverines have found their stride lately, be it good or bad, and are sitting at 8-2 with a trip to College Park on deck as they’ll take on the Maryland Terrapins.

Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2025, with all of their goals in front of them, but they’ll need to get their offense back on track.

Saturday would be ideal for them to do some fine-tuning, as Maryland, which started the season 4-0, comes into the matchup losing six games in a row.

Weather: Sunny weekend before Metro Detroit braces for colder Thanksgiving weather

High pressure will build into the region to start the weekend on Saturday, keeping a mixture of sunshine and clouds in the forecast throughout much of the day.

High temperatures are running about 10 or so degrees colder than on Friday, as we expect high temperatures to warm into the mid-40s by Saturday afternoon.
