Former Hamtramck police officer sues city, city council over alleged civil rights violations The former officer is seeking $5M in damages
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. – A former Hamtramck police officer is suing the city and the city council, claiming his civil rights and whistleblower protections were violated.
David Adamczyk’s lawyers said on Tuesday (Dec. 2) he was fired after speaking out about misconduct by then-police chief Jamiel Altaheri.
The finger-pointing continues in Hamtramck following the news that police Chief Jamiel Altaheri has been put on administrative leave while an investigation occurs. (Copyright 2025 by WDIV ClickOnDetroit - All rights reserved.) Altaheri was first put on leave and then resigned.
Adamcyk was fired as a result of an internal investigation, but he says it was unfair and controlled by the city council .
Now, he’s seeking $5 million in damages.
