NBA star Chris Webber hosts ‘The Best of Michigan Basketball Showcase’ in Detroit

Event set for Dec. 13-14 at the University of Detroit Mercy

DETROIT – Detroit will be the hub of Michigan basketball excitement next weekend as NBA Hall of Famer Chris Webber hosts ‘The Best of Michigan Basketball Showcase.’

The two-day event, set for Dec. 13-14, at Calihan Hall on the University of Detroit Mercy campus, will highlight the state’s top high school teams and elite athletes.

Fans will get a chance to see rising stars and celebrate Michigan’s rich basketball culture.

Webber is presenting the event in partnership with Mike Jackson, a former University of Detroit player and coach.

The Best of Michigan Basketball Showcase is expected to draw basketball fans from across the state and the Midwest -- making it a must-see event for those who love the game.

The boys event will feature West Bloomfield, Country Day, Warren Lincoln, A Tap, Warren Fitzgerald, Summit Academy, River Rouge, Brother Rice, Reynoldsburg and Ferndale on Saturday, Dec. 13, beginning at noon.

On Sunday, games featuring Warren Lincoln, Ferndale, Cass Tech and West Bloomfield will close the showcase, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Girls teams from Detroit Edison, Country Day, Renaissance and Wayne Memorial High Schools will play Sunday, Dec. 14, beginning at noon.
