Detroit rapper Sada Baby waives preliminary exam in drug case

While arrested on an outstanding warrant, officers allegedly found a bag of pills in the driver’s side door

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido announced that Casada Sorrell, also known as rapper Sada Baby, waived his preliminary exam and was bound over to Macomb County Circuit Court on a controlled substance possession charge.

In January 2025, Sterling Heights police stopped 33-year-old Sorrell.

While taking him into custody on an outstanding warrant, officers allegedly found a bag of pills in the driver’s side door pocket.

The pills were identified as Acetaminophen and Oxycodone Hydrochloride, a Schedule 2 controlled substance, for which Sorrell did not have a valid prescription.

On Dec. 11, 2025, a probable cause conference was held at 41A District Court in Sterling Heights.

Sorrell waived his right to a preliminary exam and was bound over to circuit court.

An arraignment date has not yet been set.

Sorrell faces a felony charge of possession of controlled substances of less than 25 grams, carrying a potential four-year sentence.

He also has a Habitual Offender – Third Offense Notice, which could increase the severity of his sentence.
