WARREN, Mich. – A suspect has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with police in Warren on Friday.
The suspect was live-streaming on Facebook in the lead-up to the surrender.
Just after 5 a.m. on Dec. 12, 2025, Warren police received a call from a person who knew the suspect, claiming the suspect was inside a home in the 7000 block of Westminster Avenue and had killed a person.
The caller said the suspect told them on a FaceTime call, where the caller saw a man lying on the ground covered in blood.
Minutes later, the police arrive to find a man dead inside the house. The suspect was moving inside the home and refused to come to the door.
For several hours, police negotiated with the suspect.
The suspect livestreamed the encounter on Facebook. In the stream, the person repeatedly claims to have killed the man and shows a bloody knife.
According to police, the suspect made several incriminating statements regarding the death of the man and alluded to an interest in suicide.
Marcus Trent and his fiancée live two doors down. They captured several videos showing the suspect surrendering to police.
“It’s such a shock. They’re pretty quiet people,” Trent said. “They were hitting her with the rubber bullets and everything. She’s on the live not caring, she was saying she was drunk, and she didn’t feel it.”
Neighbors say the suspect moved into the home two months ago. Two months prior to that, friends of the suspect told Local 4 that the suspect’s husband died. Neighbors say the suspect’s aunt lives behind the suspect’s home.
“We have lives that are impacted, and we’re gonna do all we can to help the family move forward,” Warren Police Commissioner Eric Hawkins said.
Many neighbors learned about the news because it appeared in their Facebook feeds.
“It’s usually quiet over here,” neighbor Marshall Harp, a member of the neighborhood for 11 years, said. “Stuff like this usually don’t happen, and that’s what’s so much of a shock.”
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
