The two Michigan lakes that earned a spot on the list include the following:
- Hamlin Lake
- Lake St. Clair
Hamlin Lake
Hamlin Lake is located in western Michigan, near Ludington, and is just inland from Lake Michigan, according to Fishing Booker.
This lake, known as “a well-kept secret” among local fishers, provides a quieter alternative to busy spots while still offering excellent ice fishing opportunities.
Fishermen frequently catch Bluegill, Crappie and Pike in Hamlin Lake throughout the winter months.
Fishing Booker said that this is a great lake for beginners or families to try ice fishing due to its “manageable size and protected bays.”
Lake St. Clair
The other local lake named on the list, Lake St. Clair, is situated on the border between Michigan and Ontario, Canada.
Perch, Walleye and Panfish are often caught during the winter months in Lake St. Clair, according to Fishing Booker.
“Ice conditions can vary, but when they’re favorable, the fishing is exceptional,” Fishing Booker writers said. “Anglers of all skill levels will find opportunities for success.”
