Bitter cold in Metro Detroit today with warm-up in sight

Rain and snow to end the week

There will likely be some light snow showers through mid-morning; best chances of light accumulation are to our north. Otherwise, it will be cloudy and blustery today.

Highs will be close to 20 degrees, but with wind gusts around 30 mph wind chills will stay in single digits.

Partly sunny and around freezing on Tuesday with wind gusts upward of 20 mph.

A warmup is forecasted for the middle of the week with temperatures in the 40s Wednesday and Thursday, but a strong storm system is forecasted to impact the Great Lakes Thursday and Friday.

Much of the precipitation is expected to fall in the form of rain on Thursday before transitioning to snow overnight into Friday. Strong winds will accompany this system as it moves through the region. Highs will dip nearly 20 degrees from Thursday to Friday, going from the upper 40s to upper 20s.
