Metro Detroit pizza chain expands with St. Clair Shores store

St. Clair Shores, Mich. – A well-known metro Detroit pizza chain that’s been around for nearly 80 decades is getting ready to add another store.

Green Lantern Pizza is expected to open its 17th location at 30201 Harper Ave. in St. Clair Shores, according to its website. This spot will focus on carryout and delivery only. The company currently operates three dine-in restaurants, located in Berkley, Clinton Township and at the original Madison Heights site.

The menu features build-your-own pies along with signature options like Hawaiian, BLT and barbecue chicken pizzas, as well as its fan-favorite Lantern Bread.

The business began in 1946, when Thomas and Irene Vettraino opened the Green Lantern Tavern in Madison Heights. In 1955, the original restaurant at 28960 John R Road was renamed Green Lantern Pizza. Today, the company is led by third-generation owners, brothers John and T.J. Spreitzer.
