PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man has died after being struck by a car in Pittsfield Township Monday afternoon.
Police said the 83-year-old man was crossing Washtenaw Avenue near Deake Avenue on Dec. 15, just before 5:30, when he was struck by a Ford Explorer traveling westbound on Washtenaw Avenue.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford Explorer was not injured.
Police said drugs or alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash. According to officials, the 83-year-old man was not crossing within a crosswalk.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
