Warren police, Meijer, community volunteers unite for ‘Shop with a Hero’ holiday event

The department looks forward to continuing this valued tradition and growing its impact in the years ahead

WARREN, Mich. – Warren Police Department, Meijer, and community volunteers joined forces for the annual “Shop with a Hero” holiday event.

The Warren Police Department expressed gratitude to the many volunteers, donors, and community partners who helped make this year’s Shop with a Hero events a huge success.

Each year, the department partners with both Meijer locations in Warren, the Fraternal Order of Police, and other community stakeholders to collect donations that brighten the holiday season for local children and families in need.

Participating families are invited to a personalized holiday shopping experience alongside uniformed police officers, dispatchers, and first responders at Warren’s Meijer stores.

Using donated gift cards, each group shops together to select meaningful holiday gifts and necessities.

By hosting two Shop with a Hero events annually, the Warren Police Department reaches more families and expands the positive impact of this long-standing holiday tradition.

This year, thanks to the generosity of Meijer and numerous community supporters, nearly 130 children and families participated—making it one of the largest Shop with a Hero events in the department’s history.

The events hold special meaning for Warren Police members, who see them as a chance to engage with the community beyond their official duties.

Through volunteer service and often personal generosity, first responders helped create lasting memories for every participating child and family.
