‘Go 4 It’ spirit shines as police deliver holiday joy to kids in need on Detroit’s east side

Officers handed out gifts to families at the Detroit Rescue Mission

DETROIT – The “Go 4 it” spirit made a big appearance on Detroit’s east side, where families going through a hard time had a heavy weight lifted from their shoulders.

Officers handed out gifts to families at the Detroit Rescue Mission.

“Dolls, basketballs, footballs, coloring books, crayons, tea sets, stuffed animals, were given to kids in need,” said Detroit police Captain Stacy Greer-Travis

Police said it’s all about giving back and making sure families in need feel supported during the holiday season.

For parents just struggling to get by, being able to make sure their child gets a present makes all the difference.

Around 25 kids at the shelter received a new toy on Monday (Dec. 22) thanks to these officers who turned a simple act of kindness into a moment of hope for the holidays.
