SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in Shelby Township and assaulting the homeowner.
On Dec. 11, a homeowner heard a window breaking in the back of his house in the 47000 block of Van Dyke. When he opened the door to look outside, he was forcefully pushed back into the house and was severely beaten. Police said several items were also stolen from the home.

By the time police arrived, the suspect had run from the area. The homeowner suffered multiple injuries from the assault.
After further investigation, police believe Jesus Garcia Jr., a 36-year-old Pontiac man, was the suspect.
On Dec. 16, police found Garcia in a parking lot in Auburn Hills and arrested him.
He was charged with first-degree home invasion, unlawful imprisonment, unarmed robbery, larceny and fourth offense notice as a habitual offender. His bond was set at $750,000.
Garcia is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 29, 2025, for a probable cause conference.
