Owners of new women’s soccer team see it filling void on Flint-area sports scene

FLINT – The success the Flint City Bucks soccer franchise enjoyed after relocating from Pontiac three years ago is one of the reasons a women’s team will be playing at Atwood Stadium next summer. But as much as anything, the owners of the new Flint City AFC club see the move from Detroit to Atwood as a way to capitalize on the growing popularity of women’s soccer. “Where ever there are soccer fans, I think a women’s team works, especially with youngsters,” said Eddie Hudson, who will co-own the team along with the Flint City Bucks owners. They’re going to bring a competitive fire that people haven’t seen before with women’s soccer. More information about Flint City AFC can be found on the club’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
