Ann Arbor man dies after rear-end crash in Clinton Township

Crash happened near Metropolitan Parkway, Groesbeck Highway

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – An Ann Arbor man died in a rear-end crash in Clinton Township Monday evening.

The crash happened on Dec. 29, just after 8 p.m., on Metropolitan Parkway, east of Groesbeck Highway.

According to Clinton Township police, a Ford Transit Connect van and a Ford Mustang were stopped at a turnaround traffic light just east of Groesbeck Highway when a Ram ProMaster van collided with the rear end of the Mustang. The mustang was then propelled into the rear of the Ford Transit Connect.

The driver of the Ford Transit Connect van went to check on the other drivers involved and found that the driver of the Mustang was unresponsive.

The driver of the Mustang, a 27-year-old man from Ann Arbor, was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Ram ProMaster left the scene before first responders arrived. They were later found by Clinton Township police and were then taken to a local hospital for medical treatment.

It’s not clear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
