Man accused of driving drunk in Macomb County crash that killed Ann Arbor man

Crash happened near Metropolitan Parkway, Groesbeck Highway

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A man from Detroit is facing charges in a Clinton Township crash that killed an Ann Arbor man.

The crash happened on Dec. 29, just after 8 p.m., on Metropolitan Parkway, east of Groesbeck Highway.

Prosecutors claim Torrance Irby was drunk when he rear-ended a car at a stop light, pushing it into the back of a van.

The driver of the car, a 27-year-old Ann Arbor man, was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Irby reportedly left the scene before first responders arrived and was arrested later. He has been charged with drunk driving causing death and failure to stop at the scene of a crash. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.
