The body of 26-year-old Peyton Bilbia was discovered Dec. 31 inside a Milford home on Summit Street. Police said they were called to the home for a welfare check after his girlfriend was not able to contact him for some time.

Matthew Molinaro, a 29-year-old from Sterling Heights, was arrested later that day.

Prosecutors said Molinaro had dated Bilbia’s girlfriend before him and that she had obtained a personal protection order against Molinaro that month.

Molinaro was charged with first-degree murder on Sunday, Jan. 4. He was denied bond and remanded to jail.
