GEICO sues Oakland County woman for not listing her 12-year-old daughter on car insurance policy

GEICO is suing a Southfield-area woman because she did not list her 12-year-old daughter, who does not drive, on her personal injury protection form.

According to the complaint, GEICO says they have no obligation to cover any costs from a crash last year.

Local 4 is sitting down with the woman after reporting on other Michigan families facing claim denials from GEICO due to not listing their children, who do not drive.

‘Deal with it’: Former Oxford Center employee testifies about how safety concerns were dismissed

A former Oxford Center employee testified that repeated warnings about hyperbaric chamber safety, including static electricity, and children being treated alone, were dismissed by leadership in the years that he worked at the company.

Tamela Peterson, 59, of Brighton, Jeffrey Mosteller, 65, of Clinton Township, Gary Marken, 66, of Spring Arbor and Aleta Moffitt, 61, of Rochester Hills, were charged after Thomas Cooper was killed when the hyperbaric chamber he was receiving treatment in exploded at the Oxford Center in Troy on Jan. 31, 2025. The boy’s mother was also injured in the explosion.
