Man extradited from Kansas to Michigan to stand trial on child sexual abuse charges

New charges added as trial proceedings commence

WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. – A 47-year-old man from Cadillac who was extradited to Michigan from Kansas will stand trial on sexual abuse charges.

Michael Joseph Caillouet is accused of sexually abusing a minor child between 2016 and 2019 and showing the child pornography.

The allegations were reported to Michigan State Police in March.

After being extradited back to Michigan by U.S. Marshals, Caillouet was arraigned on Dec. 9 on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of exhibiting sexually explicit material to a minor.

On Tuesday, Jan. 13, Caillouet was bound over to stand trial with new charges: two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, and an additional count of exhibiting sexually explicit material to a minor.

If convicted, Caillouet could face life in prison.
