CADILLAC, MICH. -- The rivers that run cold and clean through the nearly one-million-acre Huron-Manistee National Forests are beloved for their beauty, their pristine nature, the respite they provide. The River Rangers are out there to make sure those waters stay that way. An evolving and expanding initiative over the past decade, the River Rangers program places “rangers” on four nationally designated wild and scenic rivers within the Huron-Manistee National Forests. The program was founded on the Pere Marquette River in 2012 through a partnership with the Huron-Manistee National Forest and the Pere Marquette Watershed Council. This sort of education is especially important as increasing numbers of Michiganders take up outdoor recreation activities and discover the national forests in their own backyard, says Jake Lubera, district ranger for the national forests’ Baldwin/White Cloud district.mlive.com

GM recalls 380K older SUVs over suspension issues that can impact steering
DETROIT -- General Motors is recalling an estimated 380,000 Cadillac and Saab SUVs over a potential suspension issue that can affect steering on the vehicles. GM says although the cars were recalled once, dealers or independent repair shops may not have followed procedures for tightening a toe link nut, the AP reports. GM dealerships will replace the adjustable toe link with a non-adjustable one.mlive.com

Amazon, Cadillac score with Super Bowl ads
NEW YORK – During this year's Super Bowl, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reigned supreme on the field. Bud Light Seltzer LemonadeBud Light used lemons as a metaphor for everything that went wrong in 2020 to introduce its new Seltzer Lemonade. Michelob was likely hoping to drive people to repeat views online with the celebrity lookalikes, but during the fast-moving Super Bowl the conceit was confusing. With its first-ever Super Bowl ad, Scott's was looking to keep that momentum going, but the overstuffed ad ended up being distracting.

Perhaps the most striking effect: Virtually none of the ads featured people in masks, a public-health priority but also a grim reminder of the ongoing pandemic. AIMING TO ENTERTAINIn an effort to be light, advertisers stuffed -- and sometimes overstuffed — their ads with celebrities. “I like Springsteen and heartwarming ads like this generally, but this one feels too forced given the current political climate,” he said.
