Mom makes bomb threat to Macomb County school after daughter is barred from school play

Court mandates impulse control class

Crystal Royster (WDIV)

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A 42-year-old woman has been ordered to take impulse control classes after making fake bomb threats to a Macomb County high school.

According to authorities, Crystal Royster made two false bomb reports at Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores in March 2025 because her daughter was not allowed to participate in the school play.

The school had barred her daughter from participating because she was sick at the time.

On March 12, 2025, the school evacuated more than 700 people so police could search the premises. No bombs were found.

Royster pleaded guilty to false report or threat of a bomb in November. On Jan. 8, she was sentenced to 18 months probation, including 14 days in the Macomb County Jail.

She was also ordered to have no contact with the victims, notify the school before entering school grounds, and take a Class A impulse control class.
