OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Oakland University announced a full campus closure amid dangerous weather moving into the state.
The university will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, starting at 5 a.m.

The closure is expected to last throughout the day, with plans to reopen at 5 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.
Staff are not required to report to work, and there is no expectation for remote work.
Designated essential personnel should check with their supervisors about reporting requirements.
During the closure, all in-person, on-campus classes will not meet face-to-face, and all but essential university operations will cease.
Faculty may choose to conduct classes virtually, but must notify students in advance.
Students will not be penalized for non-attendance.
If instruction moves online, faculty must provide make-up materials in an appropriate format.
Laboratory sections may be rescheduled with advance notice.
No assignments or exams will be due during the emergency closure period.
Students unsure about their classes should contact their instructors for specific information.
All campus activities outside of classes are canceled unless otherwise communicated.
Decisions about changes to university operations during severe weather will be made as conditions warrant.
