Arrest made after 35-year-old man killed in Inkster shooting

INKSTER, Mich. – An arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting that happened in Inkster earlier this month, police said.

Rodella Fickling was taken into custody and arraigned on Jan. 22, 2026, on murder charges in the death of 35-year-old Dantino Warren, according to a press release from the Inkster Police Department.

Police responded to the area of Hazelwood and Middlebelt at about 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2026, after receiving a report of a man being shot.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

“I want to commend the diligent efforts of our patrol officers and detectives, as well as the critical assistance provided by detectives from the Michigan State Police Metro South Post,” said Inkster Police Chief Tamika Jenkins. “Their partnership and commitment were instrumental in bringing this investigation to a successful resolution.”

The investigation is ongoing. No other information about the case has been released at this time.

The department also said they have made arrests in five of the six homicides that happened in the city in 2025.

“The arrest of Mr. Fickling, stemming from a homicide this month further underscores our resolve to pursue violent offenders and protect our community,” Jenkins said.
