What ICE said about parents arrested at Ypsilanti bus stop

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has released a statement after agents reportedly took multiple parents into custody at a bus stop in Ypsilanti during student drop-off.

The parents were taken into custody in the morning on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026.

16 guns, $37K, fentanyl, cocaine seized in Metro Detroit drug bust

Multiple people were arrested and 16 guns, $37,000 in cash, fentanyl, cocaine and other drugs were seized in a large drug bust spanning three Metro Detroit counties.

On Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026, the County of Macomb Enforcement Team executed multiple search warrants in Macomb, Wayne and Oakland counties in connection with an investigation into a large-scale drug trafficking operation, according to Michigan State Police.

The Latest: Congress scrambles to save bipartisan spending deal before Friday night deadline

Senate leaders were scrambling to save a bipartisan spending deal and avert a partial government shutdown at midnight Friday. Democrats have demanded new restrictions on federal immigration raids across the country.

Democrats struck a rare deal with President Donald Trump Thursday to separate funding for the Homeland Security Department from a broad government spending bill and fund it for two weeks while Congress debates curbs on the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

Weather: Extreme wind chills in Metro Detroit, slight warming trend on the horizon

The Cold Weather Advisory for areas north of I-96 is in effect through 10 AM as actual temperatures start out 5 to 20 below zero across most areas.

Lake-effect snow showers from Lake Huron are likely in the Thumb tonight into Saturday, with potentially 1-3″ of accumulation. We are still on the chilly side tomorrow with subzero morning lows and wind chills -10 to -15. Sunshine returns on Sunday allowing temperatures to rise a little into the low 20s.
