5-year-old drowns at Deer Lake Athletic Club in Independence Township An investigation is ongoing

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 5-year-old girl from Sterling Heights drowned in a swimming pool at the Deer Lake Athletic Club in Independence Township.
The drowning occurred Friday, Jan. 30, shortly after 7:30 p.m. at the club on White Lake Road.
The victim’s name has not been released.
Police said more details will be shared as the investigation continues.
