The Detroit restaurant is housed in a 1949 building that originally served as a bank. The exterior was largely preserved, and the dining area features a prominent former vault door.

Culver’s was started in 1954 in Sauk City, Wisconsin, by Craig and Lea Culver. Since then, the brand has grown to more than 1,050 restaurants in 26 states, including 104 in Michigan.
