Savannah Guthrie, co-anchor of NBC’s “TODAY” show, is seeking prayers as Arizona authorities investigate the possible abduction of her 84-year-old mother, Nancy Guthrie.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing Sunday, around noon, from her home near Tucson after she did not arrive at church.

Family members searched her property for nearly an hour before notifying authorities, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News.

Nancy was last seen the previous night around 9:45 p.m. when family dropped her off at home.

What began as a search and rescue operation has now shifted to a criminal investigation. On Monday, Nanos said that officials believe Nancy Guthrie may have been taken in the middle of the night, raising concerns about kidnapping or abduction, according to NBC News.

Nancy Guthrie, who lives alone and employs staff, has limited mobility and was without her necessary daily medication when she disappeared.

Authorities say she has no cognitive impairments and is “sharp as a tack.”

Nanos confirmed there was evidence she was harmed at her home, but did not specify the extent of the harm.

But in a later interview with the Arizona Daily Star, Nanos wouldn’t confirm or deny that Nancy was harmed and said that he “misspoke or something,” according to NBC News.

Investigators have secured Nancy’s cell phone and car.

They are reviewing video footage from cameras at her home and have asked neighbors to check their security cameras for any relevant information.

Nanos also urged the community to come forward with tips, emphasizing the importance of public assistance in the investigation. The FBI is also involved in the case.

In response to the disappearance, the nonprofit group 88-Crime, which collaborates closely with local law enforcement, has offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

Savannah Guthrie, who missed her “TODAY” show appearances on Monday and Tuesday, posted a heartfelt message on Instagram on Monday night. She thanked supporters and asked for prayers.
