BIRMINGHAM, Mich. – Robert William Foster, known as the “Birmingham porch pirate,” has been arrested and charged with multiple package thefts.
In December 2025, the Birmingham Police Department reported receiving multiple reports from residents after items were delivered to front porches and then stolen—a practice known as “porch piracy.”

Birmingham police determined the events were committed by the same individual, using photos and videos provided by the community to identify Foster.
Detectives said they ultimately obtained a 17-count arrest warrant for larceny from mail for Foster of Detroit.
Foster was taken into custody in a coordinated effort with Beverly Hills Public Safety.
On Jan. 29, Foster was arraigned in 48th District Court and was released on a $25,000 personal bond with a GPS tether.
Foster was also prohibited from working for any future door-to-door delivery services.
The pretrial is scheduled for Feb. 20.
