The American Heart Association (AHA) encourages people to join the ‘Go Red for Women’ movement by wearing red and spreading awareness.

According to the organization, nearly 45% of women over the age of 20 are living with some form of cardiovascular disease, which claims the lives of 1 in 3 women.

The AHA recommends that women know their numbers, such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels, to reduce the risk for heart disease.

Additionally, the AHA suggests that people learn CPR and advocate for women’s representation in cardiovascular research.

Participants can join the movement on social media by using #WearRedDay, #WearRedAndGive and #GoRedforWomen.
