Man arrested after police chase in Detroit, officers find drugs and brass knuckles

An investigation is ongoing

DETROIT – Michigan State Police arrested a 34-year-old man after a high-speed chase that ended near Deacon Street and Miami Avenue in Detroit on Saturday.

The chase began around 11:50 p.m. Feb. 7, when Allen Park police spotted a car breaking traffic laws.

As Allen Park officers followed the car, a Michigan State Police helicopter patrolling the area flew overhead.

State officers tried to stop the car near Springwells and I-75, but the driver refused to comply.

The man finally stopped near Deacon Street and Miami Avenue. Both the driver and a 23-year-old woman riding with him fled on foot.

The passenger was caught quickly and taken into custody.

The driver ran through the neighborhood with troopers chasing him. Police used a taser to stop him, and he was taken into custody.

When officers searched his car, they found drugs and a pair of brass knuckles.

An investigation is ongoing.
