11-year-old boy dies after being hit by car in Taylor, police say

Police: Driver stayed at scene, is cooperating with investigation

TAYLOR, Mich. – An 11-year-old boy died after he was hit by a car in Taylor on Tuesday, police said.

Just after 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 10, police received a report that a child had been hit by a car in the area of Pond Village Drive and Eureka Road, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, they discovered that an 11-year-old boy had been hit and started administering CPR. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

“At this time, it is believed that alcohol or narcotics were not factors in this incident,” police said.

The investigation is ongoing.

“The Taylor Police Department asks the community to keep the child’s family, loved ones, and the officers who responded to this tragic incident in their thoughts and prayers,” according to the release.
