How West Bloomfield Township police uncovered alleged child abuse by babysitter

Investigators say the victim’s mother found the man’s babysitting services advertisement on Sittercity.com

WEST BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Police in Oakland County have arrested a man suspected of sexually assaulting a child he was hired to babysit for over several years.

West Bloomfield police fear there may be more victims connected to the man, Michael Alan Bank, following disturbing evidence found on devices inside his West Bloomfield Township home.

Police released a photo of Bank, 58, urging the public to take note.

Investigators say the mother of one alleged victim found Bank’s advertisement for his babysitting services on Sittercity.com.

Chief Dale Young of West Bloomfield police described the allegations as deeply disturbing.

Bank was hired by a local mother to nanny her young child several years ago.

According to police, over the following years, Bank allegedly engaged in criminal sexual conduct with the child.

The abuse came to light last month, and on Jan. 15, West Bloomfield police arrested Bank at his home on Aeroview Drive.

A subsequent search of his home and electronic devices uncovered more unsettling material.

Young said investigators found what they believe to be evidence of additional child victims.

The evidence reportedly included images of children in compromising positions and acts with a man believed to be Bank himself.

Because of this, Young and West Bloomfield police are asking anyone who may have hired Bank or whose children may have come into contact with him to contact authorities.
