Officers, who were already present at the mall due to the ceremony, responded to the area after receiving reports of gunfire.

When they arrived, they found a 17-year-old from Mt. Clemens with a gunshot wound. They were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Authorities previously said the shooting likely began as a verbal argument between two people that escalated.

On Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, the department said two arrests had been made, but didn’t release any additional details about the suspects.

“Our message is clear: this department, alongside our partners, relentlessly pursues justice,” Clinton Township police said in a release. “We extend our gratitude to the United States Marshals Service, the FM Violent Crime Task Force, and the Roseville Police Department for their critical roles in this operation.”

The department also acknowledged that the investigation was “complex” and “lengthy.”

“Limited information was intentionally provided during the process to ensure its success,” police said. “We now stand firm: those responsible have been caught.”

No other information has been released at this time.
