A taste of girl scout cookies without the cookies. It’s happening at Ray’s Ice Cream in Royal Oak.
This month, the ice cream parlor is introducing a limited-time lineup of ice cream flavors inspired by Girl Scout Cookies featuring Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas, and the new Exploremores – a Rocky Road ice cream-inspired sandwich cookie.

Owner Jason Eddleston has worked with the Girl Scout troops over the past few years. He says he has an interest in creating seasonal flavors that feel both familiar and rooted in the community.
“When I started thinking about people’s favorite cookies, Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas, it made sense to find ways to incorporate those flavors into what we already do here,” Eddleston said in a press release.
What are the flavors?
The flavors are made in house, building on the ice cream recipes made for years. The Thin Mint flavor features a mint ice cream blended with cookie pieces, while the Tagalong flavor pairs chocolate peanut butter ice cream with Tagalong cookies. The Samoa flavor starts with a coconut-based ice cream and includes cookie pieces and a caramel swirl. A Rocky Road–style flavor inspired by the Girl Scouts’ Exploremores combines chocolate ice cream with marshmallows and almonds.
The cookies mixed into the ice cream are bought directly from multiple local Girl Scout troops. Eddleston said Ray’s connection with the organization has grown over time, thanks to hosting 100 Girl Scout visits that include tours and tastings. The parlor also opens its doors to troops in the colder months, letting them use the shop as an indoor cookie-selling spot—providing a warm, convenient place to sell throughout the season.
“These flavors tap into something people already feel connected to,” Eddleston said. “They’re nostalgic, they’re fun, and they fit naturally with what Ray’s has always been.”
