Woman dies after being hit by car while crossing street in Southfield, police say

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A 29-year-old Detroit woman died after she was hit by a car while crossing the street in Southfield, police said.

At 7:17 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, officers responded to Greenfield Road near Foster Winter Drive after receiving reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

The investigation revealed that a woman was trying to cross Greenfield Road outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a car that was heading southbound, according to police.

The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Police said the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors.

The investigation is ongoing.
