DETROIT – A Detroit man was injured after a crash on I-96 Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on westbound I-96 near Greenfield Road at around 9 a.m. on Feb. 17.

A witness told police the 59-year-old motorcyclist was riding on the solid yellow light onto the left shoulder and lost control. The witness reported that no other vehicles were involved.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital for his injuries. Police said he was wearing a helmet.

The freeway was closed for about an hour.

“Metro South troopers are continuing to investigate this crash,” said F/Lt. Mike Shaw. “At this time it hasn’t been determined of why the rider drifted onto the shoulder and lost control.”
