Lost senior dog in Oakland County finds new home with Milford Police Department

Meet Lil Craig!

'Lil' Craig (WDIV)

MILFORD, Mich. – A senior dog abandoned in Oakland County has become a valued member of the Milford Police Department.

According to authorities, officers found a lost dog without tags or a microchip on Feb. 1. Police said it was below zero and conditions were rough. 4Warn Weather reported that day had high temperatures in the 20s.

Despite the police’s efforts to find his owner, including posting on social media, no one came forward.

The dog was turned over to animal control, where the department repeatedly checked in to see if anyone claimed him.

“A week later, still nothing,“ the department wrote. ”Rather than leaving his future to chance, we adopted him.”

Now named “Lil’ Craig,” the 9-year-old pup has become a beloved member of the police station.

Though Lil’ Craig is a little slow, missing some teeth, and has a floppy ear, he is already bringing smiles and stress relief to the team.

“He’s trying to figure everything out, and so are we,” MPD wrote. “He’s recovering from some medical procedures, but adapting well.”
