These are the names and faces of people missing in Metro Detroit the longest

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) is tracking 602 missing person cases in Michigan that date all the way back to 1958.

According to NamUs, more than 600,000 people go missing in the United States every year. Many missing children and adults are quickly found, but tens of thousands remain missing for more than one year. Those are considered cold cases.

All the way from the quiet cul-de-sacs of Walled Lake to the roaring Olympic ice hockey arena, Michigan’s own Connor Hellebuyck helped bring Team USA a historic gold medal on Sunday.

But, every pro starts somewhere. Local 4 caught up with someone special who knew Hellebuyck before he was the country’s star goaltender.

In 2011, a young Hellebuyck wasn’t yet an Olympian, he was a senior at Walled Lake Northern High School going to class with Mr. Conti.

Mexico fears more violence after army kills leader of powerful Jalisco cartel

Several Mexican states canceled school on Monday, with local and foreign governments warning their citizens to stay inside after widespread violence erupted following the army’s killing of the powerful leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.

Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho” was the boss of one of the fastest-growing criminal networks in Mexico, notorious for trafficking fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine to the United States and staging brazen attacks against government officials who challenged it.

Colder start to the work week as temperatures remain steady with highs in the 20s. Brisk with wind gusts upward of 20 mph and the northwesterly flow will lead to wind chills today at least ten degrees cooler than air temperatures. Lows drop into the single digits tonight/Tuesday morning and wind chills down to around 0 degrees.
