Woman with 9 guns in SUV leads chase that ended at Wayne County landfill, police say

Taylor woman, 54, taken into custody

WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A 54-year-old Taylor woman is in custody after leading police on a chase that ended at a landfill on Wednesday afternoon. Officers recovered nine guns from her car.

At 1:51 p.m. Feb. 25, 2026, the Huron Township Police Department was asked to assist the Taylor officers with a pursuit involving an armed suspect who was wanted for fleeing and eluding, three separate ones in Taylor and one in Trenton. The woman also allegedly made a call to the Taylor Police Department’s 911 center and threatened to shoot officers.

Huron Township officers assisted with the chase, which was briefly called off for public safety reasons.

After the pursuit was terminated, officers followed the suspect at normal speeds and saw that she pulled into a residence in the 37000 block of Ash Road. She went into the backyard, and when officers blocked the entrances, she came at officers head-on through the fence to get away.

She drove off, and the pursuit was reinitiated. Police said the suspect reached speeds between 90 and 100 mph at times.

Authorities said the suspect eventually drove into the Carleton Farms Landfill, where she attempted to ram multiple patrol vehicles.

Once at the dump, another officer noticed she was going up a trash hill.

When they got up there, bulldozers were blocking her from going any further, so she turned around and traveled toward the officer’s head-on again, and continued down the hill.

They pursued her down the hill, and officers were able to block in her car. Police said the workers at the dump also used their work trucks to block the entrance, so she had nowhere to go.

At that point, the suspect wasn’t unlocking her car or responding to their commands, so officers broke one of her rear windows to unlock the car. She was Tased and was taken out of the car.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody at around 2 p.m.

Three Huron Township officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Following the arrest, a search warrant was executed on the Taylor woman’s car.

Police said nine firearms, which included handguns and rifles equipped with scopes, were recovered. Some of them were loaded.

The suspect is being lodged at the Taylor Police Department pending review of charges by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

“She had no regard for other people’s safety,” said Huron Township Police Chief Everette Robbins. “She had no regard for the public. And really no regard for the officers or herself. So whatever it was, was a bad day, and almost a worse day for everyone.”

Huron Township police said they will be submitting a request for multiple felony charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
