DETROIT – Community leaders, mental health professionals, and public safety officials are teaming up Saturday for a double summit on men’s substance misuse prevention and youth mental health in Detroit.
The Men’s Substance Misuse Prevention, Mental Health and Wellness Summit and the Evolve Youth & Teen Mental Health & Substance Abuse Prevention Summit run from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 28 at Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.

Designed for men, youth and teens across Metro Detroit, the free event will offer:
• Mental health education
• Substance misuse prevention training
• Wellness screenings
• Yoga sessions
• Acupuncture
• Free haircuts
• Giveaways
• Free breakfast and lunch
Keynote remarks will come from James Harris of the Detroit Fire Department’s community relations division.
The summit is hosted by The Center for Urban Youth and Family Development and Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.
Organizers say the event is part of broader efforts to bring prevention services into Detroit’s west side, including town halls, parent education and seasonal, substance-free family events.
